Want to meet others who socialise sober?
The regular Tonic coffee meetup at Puzzle Bored offers a welcoming space to say hello, meet a few people and get a taste of alcohol-free community in Brighton.
Tonic is a sober social community for gay, bi and queer men, and non-binary people who feel connected to gay male culture. We bring people together through regular alcohol-free socials across Brighton, including coffee meetups, games nights, walks, meals, creative events and trips out.
Whether you are in recovery, sober-curious, do not drink for health reasons, have never drunk, or simply want more sober social options, you are very welcome.
There is no need to share your story or commit to anything. You can just drop in, say hello and see whether Tonic feels right for you.

Get ready for the goo - it's slime time!!
In this DIY Slime-Making Workshop, kids will use an easy, borax-free recipe to create their own slime.
Kids can add all sorts of colours, sparkles and sequins to create the slime of their dreams (or nightmares!!)
This hands-on session is tactile, safe, and loads of fun - perfect for kids who love to get stuck in.
At the end of the workshop, children can take home their slime, ready to squish, stretch and squash again and again!
One ticket per child. Parents or guardians are welcome to stay with their child throughout the session.

In this very fun air-dry clay workshop, kids are guided by clay portrait artist Jenni Reika to create their own lovely pet's face from air-dry clay!
They can sculpt their cat...their dog...their fish...their hamster! All pets are welcome! 😄
Kids can bring a photo of their pet to work from, or use their imagination - creativity very much encouraged!
Once dry, their sculpture can be used as adorable wall decor, or displayed on the shelf as an ornament.
No experience is needed - full guidance and support is provided throughout, along with all the materials and tools they need.Ages 6+
Please arrive for a 2pm start - kids will be given a brief overview of how to sculpt with air-dry clay.
It's not as hard as you think!
We will then sculpt our gorgeous pets - full support and encouragement is provided.Creations can be taken home to dry (normally within 48 hours) ready to be painted with acrylic paint (paints not included)
Parents are welcome to stay with their child for the workshop, but please note seating may be limited.
Comics Workshop - Thursday 6th & 20th August at 10.30am.
When everyone's assembled, I'll give a short intro about comics, with visual examples, and chat about group favourites.
I have some fun techniques for generating characters, locations and ideas, which I'll demonstrate with a super quick comic of my own, then everyone will decide which type of comic they want to do and I'll go around and give some feedback, tips, and help, covering basic storytelling, drawing skills, composition and design.
Towards the end of the 90 minutes we'll have a show-and-tell of their comics (if they want - no pressure!)We'll use quality materials and some time-saving shortcuts (working in black and white for the workshop to save on colouring-in time, but that could be a good project for afterwards).
My aim is for your child to finish with a renewed inspiration, boost of confidence in drawing/composition, and a comic that they've made themselves. If your child has any favourite materials they might feel more comfortable using (eg a sketchbook, art pens) feel free to bring those along, but it's not necessary. I'm keeping the group small so there'll be up to 8 children and their adults.
